The New Mexico Entertainment Awards returns for its third season
The New Mexico Entertainment Awards (NMEA) is set to kick off its 2025 season with the launch of its Community Submission and Nomination Process on January 1, 2025. Presented by New Mexico Entertainment Magazine, this annual event shines a spotlight on the exceptional individuals, businesses, and organizations that make significant contributions to the state’s vibrant events and entertainment scene. With categories ranging from live performances, comedy, arts, to books and nightlife, the awards celebrate the creative spirit that defines New Mexico.
This year’s nomination process introduces a new feature—a nominal $10 submission fee per entry. The fee aims to reduce errors and ensure a smoother process for all participants. The funds collected will help support the production of the prestigious Awards Gala, which will take place on July 12, 2025. This gala serves as the grand finale of the event, where winners from each category will be honored in a formal setting.
The NMEA’s schedule is carefully designed to give ample time for nominations, voting, and preparation for the gala. Community submissions will open on January 1, 2025, and close on March 1, 2025. After the submission deadline, a panel of judges will review all entries to ensure they meet the established criteria. Once the Top Five nominees in each category are announced on March 15, the public voting process will commence. Voting will run until May 17, 2025, and the combined results from public votes and the judges’ evaluations will determine the winners.
To be considered for an award, nominees must meet specific eligibility requirements. Their work should have been completed between January 2024 and December 2024, and nominees must reside or conduct business in New Mexico. For bands or performance groups, at least 50% of the members must be state residents. Nominees are expected to consistently engage with the New Mexican public, such as by performing approximately 10 local shows annually. They must also provide evidence of recent work, such as flyers or videos, and maintain an active social media presence focused on their craft. Professionalism and respect for colleagues and audiences are equally important.
Submissions must include accurate contact information, such as a professional email, social media links, or a work phone number. Each participant is limited to one nomination per category, and any submission with multiple entries in the same category will be disqualified.
The New Mexico Entertainment Awards go beyond recognizing individual achievements; they highlight the collective talent and creativity that enrich the state’s cultural landscape. Teresa Robinson, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of New Mexico Entertainment Magazine explained that the event celebrates the people and organizations who make New Mexico’s entertainment scene unique. “It’s an opportunity to honor those who consistently deliver high-quality experiences for our community,” Robinson added.
Starting January 1, 2025, New Mexicans can submit their nominations online at nmentertains.com. The submission portal will remain open until March 1, providing ample opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations. Whether it’s a talented musician, a standout local event, or a cherished cultural venue, the NMEA encourages the public to participate and celebrate excellence.
