“The Sundance Film Festival remains steadfast in its commitment to elevating unique and urgent voices in independent storytelling,” said Robert Redford, Sundance Institute Founder and President. “Audiences can expect a 2025 program that showcases varied and vibrant filmmaking globally.”

Amanda Kelso, Sundance Institute's Acting CEO, emphasized the Festival’s role as the Institute’s most significant public program, stating, “Our curation speaks to the breadth and depth of filmmaking today. The artists selected this year demonstrate the power of storytelling to inspire dialogue and foster connection.”

Kim Yutani, Director of Programming, added, “This year’s program confronts critical issues of our time, offering stories that challenge, entertain, and deeply move audiences.”

The 2025 lineup includes 87 feature-length films from 33 countries and territories, with 41% of the feature directors making their debut. Supported by Sundance Institute’s development programs, 10 of these projects received direct grants or participated in residency labs. Impressively, 96% of this year’s films and episodic projects are world premieres.

The annual fundraising gala, Celebrating Sundance Institute, presented by Google TV, will honor artists and supporters on January 24 at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in Utah. The Sundance Film Festival Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 31 in Park City. Additional offerings include short film programs, thought-provoking conversations, and special events. Details for the Short Film Program and the complete Festival schedule will be released on December 16 and throughout January.

SALLY, a film exploring science and technology, has been awarded the 2025 Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize. This prestigious juried award celebrates outstanding depictions of science and technology in film and will be screened in the Premieres category.

The Sundance Film Festival is a program of the nonprofit Sundance Institute, which supports thousands of artists annually through initiatives like labs, grants, fellowships, and residencies.
